what is the steam program?

The Steam program is a STEM style group within the Largo Central Railroad that focuses on passing on the knowledge and skills of Live Steam Locomotives, their operations, maintenance and all of the parts production and machining required to keep the locomotives operational. The program is available to any member in good standing. Members must apply to the program.


Project Alpha: Hudson Hiawatha #1938

Complete overhaul, ruggedization and operation of a Hudson Hiawatha steam locomotive.


Project bravo: 0-4-0 #96 “Rusty”

Complete restoration and eventual operation of an 0-4-0 style steam locomotive.
